The Book opens in 1354. The backdrop of the story: the Gugler War of 1375; in which we follow the main character: Matthias Fridaig, who loses his love interest; Margo Swartz. Matthias rescues her and this couple become the prototypes of my distant far removed greatgrandparents.
Aftermath
This couple realize the Austrian Duke will not protect his subjects and they escape to a new land.
